My favorite George Michael songs as a small tribute to a wonderful musician. I remember when Wham! came out with their first songs here in the U.S. I was in high school and didn’t miss a Friday night skating to this music. As a musician myself, it always hits home when we lose someone like George…or Prince, or David Bowie. *sigh* This has been an extraordinarily tough year.
UPDATE: Just learned that the links to the videos are not displaying correctly. Working on it…
Tina Turner is a living legend, plain and simple. Today, one of the hardest working women in show business is Beyonce, whether you like her music or not. So what do you get when you put these two ladies on one stage?
I don’t think there’s anyone who can bring the sexy in the current music scene quite like Queen Bey — yes, that’s Ms. Beyonce herself. This video starts out telling the limo driver to roll up the partition. Why? Because he doesn’t need to see ‘Yonce on her knees. Say what?! Check out the sexy, ya’ll!
Unless you have yet to see the movie, Despicable Me 2, I don’t think this song needs any introduction at all. It makes me just want to jump around and smile and twirl and laugh until I pass out! So if you’re in a sour mood, or if your day sucks, take a look. I dare you *teehee*.
The week has flown by and it’s already Tuesday! A bit slow getting my music up, but I think you’ll enjoy this pick.
As most of you know, I write a series called the Vampire Council of Ethics. One of my favorite villains in vampiredom is the character, Akasha, played by Aliyah alongside Stewart Townsend. In tribute to one of the bands who made the music for Queen of the Damned so freaking awesome my picK this week is: Cold by Static-X, whose lead singer passed away this weekend.
Enjoy and get your rock-and-roll on while you watch Queen of the Damned again. It never gets old!
Was watching YouTube while laid up with a icky cold over the weekend. I absolutely love Yanis Marshall so I had to watch a few of his vids. He’s an amazing choreographer. And as a feminist, I think that anyone should be able to dance in heels if they want to, minus labels or judgment. When Yanis was asked, “Why do you dance in heels?” His answer was, “Well, why not? My mother has forty pairs of heels so I learned to dance in them. It’s hard, and sometimes you fall on your *bleep*.” Enjoy. The man has some serious moves!
I’m in an interesting mood today. Feeling somewhat cranky and romantic at the same time. Now how one does that is still beyond me *smile*, but it’s no less true. And since I’m feeling all romantic-y (I know it’s not a word, but you get me) I’ve watched a few romantic-y movies this weekend. So here’s my Music Monday pick. Recognize it?
And today I have a real oldie-but-goodie song on my mind. This morning I was talking with someone and they asked how I was doing. My response was, “I’m fine. I’m…giddy!” Picture in your mind, Inara Sera from Firefly/Serenity snapping at Captain Tight Pants (Mal Reynolds) at the beginning of the movie, Serenity…and you have ME!
Yep, that’s my mood – snarky and sarcastic with a genuine smile
I’ve embedded video of the song from Serenity in this blog post, but if it’s not showing, here’s a link:
