Knowing what you know now of writing, publishing, and putting your art out into the world, if you could go back to the day you sat down to start typing in your very first manuscript, what words would you offer to yourself? Words of encouragement? Words of advice? Caution against certain pitfalls? Would you change anything about how you got to where you are today?

What to read AFTER Fifty Shades of Gray?
I’m so happy to be included in this beautiful set! Sometimes it seems as if people forget that well-written, sizzling erotic romance, such as paranormal and BDSM romance, were around LOOOONG before Twilight and Fifty Shades of Gray. So it just tickles me to be included in a set called “What to Read After Fifty Shades of Gray” featuring “Egyptian Voyage” by moi.
The boxed set, Mastered, has been released to much fanfare! If you haven’t already read my book in that set, here’s a bit of a teaser for you.
A Twilight Teahouse Story
by T.J. Michaels
“Yes, I know I shouldn’t have looked but—”
“There’s a ‘but’ in there somewhere? Really, woman?”
She kept her mouth shut. Smartest thing she’d done all day.
“You’re well aware that this man is a textbook sociopath, yes?”
“Solie, I asked you a question.” The words were spoken quietly, but there was no way in hell she missed the steel behind them.
“Yes, I’m aware he’s a sociopath,” she grumbled.
“And I’ve shared my experiences with you about people who have this disorder, which lines up with your own research. It’s to be expected for a sociopath to pull some kind of shenanigan or another, right?”
She should write a song called, “Yet another sigh.” Bleh. Instead, she growled out a plain old, “Yes.”
“I’m not even going to ask you what you were thinking, Solie, but I will say that I’m sure you know better.”
Oh here we go.
“Are you still going to the vendor fair at the C.S.P. tomorrow?” he asked.
That was a no brainer. The vendor fair at the Community for Sex Positivity was a twice a year event that she and her other best friend, MacKenzie, didn’t miss. Many of the vendors were different each time, so there was always something cool and unique to be had.
“Yep, I’m going to the fair. Mac promised my niece that we’d get some new toys for her play bag.”
“Okay. So, when I see you tomorrow I’m going to spank your ass for doing what you know you shouldn’t have, which was perv that guy’s profile. Agreed?”
Damn. She could simply say no. Burton wouldn’t do anything without her consent. But she was in the wrong. There were no two ways about it. Not only had she connected the sociopathic dots when her relationship with Marcais began to head south, but Burt had confirmed her suspicion because he’d had plenty of experience with people like her former dude.
To make matters worse, Solie had reached out to Marcais’ ex-wife to learn exactly what she was dealing with. That woman, who’d turned out to be a fabulous person, had also told her to expect the man to do something to re-establish communication with her. And if he couldn’t do that, he would pull a mind fuck.
So yep, Solie had known the moment she’d read his message that Marcais wouldn’t have reached out to her for the hell of it. He had a purpose, always. For someone like him it wasn’t about love. It was about winning. About control.
In the end, Solie had royally worked herself into a tizzy behind something that could have been avoided. All she’d had to do was exercise a little restraint and stop long enough to think about what she was doing. Basically, she could have simply ignored he who should not be named. But nooo-ho-ho-ho. She just had to go and be nosy. Just had to see what Marcais was pitching when she knew she shouldn’t.
And now, she’d tattled on herself to Burton? Forehead, meet desk. Yeah. That.
“Solie? I asked if you agree to the punishment.”
Ugh. Burt knew she was so not an exhibitionist, regardless of her love of kink. So public spanking equaled absolute punishment in her book. Hell, she totally had this coming.
“Yes. I agree.”
“And I’ll spank your ass every time you perv his Kinkfest profile. Agreed?”
“Fine,” she snarled into the phone.
“In fact, I’m driving down to Seattle just for you, darlin.”
“Yay. I feel so special.” The words were dead pan. Burton’s responding laughter lifted her mood a bit.
Then he said, “But you are special, Solie. Just because a pathological liar and a serial cheater didn’t treat you right, doesn’t mean you deserved it. Woman, you should be treated like the amazing catch that you are. You’re a queen bee and you know it.”
She smiled a bit brighter. But still…
The new release, Mastered, a boxed set chock full of BDSM hotness, hits the shelves on July 21st. It’s coming up FAST!

Seeker’s Solace – Vampire Council of Ethics Book Four
Coming September 24, 2013
from Samhain Publishing
“I run a successful security firm, basically a bodyguard to some of the escorts that cater to the high-rolling vamps in our society.”
Jovon’s gaze rolled toward the ceiling. Why were vamps, the most sexual beings on earth, so narrow-minded in this area? She sighed, and then spoke slowly as if teaching a kindergartner. “No sex happens. That’s why I’m there. Basically, the escorts cater to men and women who haven’t had or made time for relationships but enjoy companionship. Besides, why show up at a high-dollar charity event alone when you can take runway-model material instead?”
“So here you are, a fashion doll’s muscle, headed into the investigation from hell. And single. I wonder…”
“If you can handle it, Jovon.”
“Handle what? The mission?”
“Handle me.” He licked his lips as he watched her closely. “If you let me, I’ll rock your world.”

This week’s theme is ‘Life in a Northern Town’, or small town living. Nothing says ‘small town’ like country charm. So enjoy this snippet where Pryde Ranch is clearly the place where lion shifters can enjoy the good life…

Lou walked into the elegant dining room and was immediately directed by one of the staff to a chair across from Jason and Neesia. Neither sat at the head of the table, but side-by-side instead. Lou couldn’t blame them—the view was spectacular, given they faced a wall of screened glass with an unimpeded view of the setting sun on the vast horizon.
The table was set with elegant silver-lined china, dainty tea cups and crystal wine glasses. Lou appreciated Neesia’s attention to detail when he noticed the sturdy glass beer mugs among the delicate stuff. The second he sat down, Lou’s mouth watered. Neesia Pryde appeared to be quite the chef. The smells wafting from the uncovered dishes were absolutely delicious and set his stomach to rumbling. It was pretty impressive considering the woman had managed to whip up many of his favorites with no warning of his visit at all.
And then Niah was there. The huge, white pine table sat eight with room for more, and his woman had waltzed in and sat her pretty self clear at the other end. God, she seemed practically a world away.
Patience, Lou. Patience.
Turning his attention back to the table, Lou wasn’t sure what made his stomach grumble more—the huge spread in front of him, or the scent of that lotion stuff Niah used on her skin that made him think of sundaes—warm, sweet syrup poured over something fruity…with a cherry on top.
Neesia started the dinner off by passing the first dish around. When Lou was done piling his plate, his inner country boy shouted a big yeehaw. He had a pile of hot water cornbread, mustard greens doused in what tasted like homemade spicy chow-chow, and a mountain of macaroni and cheese—and the stuff was made with real cheese instead of that orange, plasticky stuff. He lifted his fork and then paused a moment when the staff brought in yet more food.
This time, his inner-lion lifted its head and took notice—buffalo. Huge pieces of rare, perfectly cut buffalo steak that had been grilled just long enough to add a hint of smoky flavor to the meat. Lou turned towards a smug Jason. “Really?”
Jason simply grinned, and leaned in to kiss his smiling mate. “Yep, that’s how we roll, isn’t it honey?”
As a shifter of one of the predator species, his body required huge amounts of protein to stay healthy, and this was a close to heaven as a carnivore could get. He didn’t care that all eyes were on him as he dove headlong into the grub. There was very little Lou loved more than good, southern cooking…other than Niah in his arms, of course.
There was very little talking during the meal as they all stuffed their faces. Lou was glad to see none of the women did that dainty shit where they just pushed the food around on their plates. No, these were lions dressed in designer jeans—beautiful killing machines who took their food seriously.
When the dishes were cleared, cold beer was poured and set in front of Lou along with a baked dessert—bread pudding with raisins and pecans. Mmm, one of his all-time favorites. He took a bite and moaned his appreciation.
That’s when the grilling began…only this time it wasn’t a buffalo on the barbeque feeling the heat this time.
